i graduated the training in 1980, east coast six day staff 1984. last night art shuller, an old course leader, came to me in my dream. i had heard that there was talk of starting up the six day again and the thoughts of zip lines, and body confronts, and breakthrough processes all came back like a flash. in my dream i asked art who’s vision would we be following, werner’s? “that wouldn’t be it,” he said. then who’s? this is what i’m left with. who’s vision am i following? i’m clear that i’ll never get over the six day, or forget the impact that was made. and i would like to say that i still play “the master game” but this vision of greatness, this since that everything was possible, the general lack of cynicism, seems to have escaped me for the time being. so i post “who’s vision are you following?”

I did the second NJ Training in February of 1978. It,quite simply and profoundly, saved my life. The Est Training was and is the single most powerful experience of my life. Thirty-one years later, I still manifest my love of people and who they really are everyday. My bride of 40 years did the training in November of ‘78 and became truly my partner of 40 years. My three boys, men now, were raised on Werner’s operating principles for life and they are my single greatest achievement in life. Thank you Werner and thank you Carol for bringing me to the special guest Seminar at Town Hall. est in Latin means “it is”.

Proud to be an EST Graduate - 1982, Philadelphia. I decided to change careers and get out of Human Resources work. I went to graduate school starting in 1983, got a Master’s Degree at night, and stopped firing and laying people off. I moved into “Workforce Development,” and have worked with and for organizations that have now helped tens of thousands of people to move from unemployment to employment, through training and support. I absolutely have had an opportunity to make a difference and a life worth living. Thanks to all involved in The Training.

Every time I hear John Denver sing Looking For Space, I choke up. I know SOMEthing happened back then during the six day, back in the early 80s. I think it all came down to watching the transformation of a woman who sat in the six day puking her guts up next to me/us for five straight days and then on the 6th day, she finally got up and told her story and “got off it” and her face went from sickly green to pink and bright and we all cried and loved her because we WERE her. Or when the 250 lb woman was trying to get her self up the other side of the zip line, hand over hand over hand, an inch at a time…and we all waited, and cheered, and cried (there WAS a lot of crying) and screaming and being her out in the middle of the ravine until finally she made it to the other side. I knew that no one was EVER going to help her. I knew that we, as part of her team would remain on that side of the ravine until she made it. Until we all made it, Occasionally my wife of 30 years says something like “well, remember what the est training said…” and immediately I make her small because she “turned est into a thing, into a set of rules” and how stupid and unenlightend my darling loving wife is…and than…I get it. Then I realize who exactly it was who turned est into a thing. And it wasn’t my wife. We have a wonderful full delicious life. 30 years on and we are deeply in love. Partners, friends…the sex needs a little work, but whose doesn’t. I’d have to say that my partner in life, FOR life is what I “got” out of the training.

“Why do you want to take est?” Asked the person calling to sign me up. I figured, what the heck, I’ll just tell the truth so I said “I know a these cute girls who like to talk about est, so I figure if I take the seminar, I’ll get closer to them.” Without hesitation, he said “That’s a great reason.” “Really?” “Yes. It’s a fantastic reason. And it will work.” So I took the course. And it did worked.

Out of the training I have an unbelievable life, marriage and family. Today, this day, I’m 72 years old and still run my business full time. I assist people in transforming their financial lives so they have financial freedom and peace of mind.

It took me nearly 20 years to enroll my father, Brigadier General Clarence E. Beck, into the Forum…he signed up for the Advanced Course and loved what he discovered. An already great and wonderful man, he was able to allow himself to be complete with loving his children and his wife…
He was one of Eisenhower’s staff in planning D-Day, helped lead the “Big Red One” in north Africa, Sicily, Italy, and “pushed the Germans back to Czechoslovakia…” He was the military mayor of Nuremberg during the Nurembeg war trials; helped maintain peace between Pakistan and India on the northwest frontier in 1957-59; negotiated a peace treaty in Cyprus during the 60s…and awesome man. Educated, kind, and one of nature’s finest gentlemen…
After he died…I found this in his Advanced Course notes:
“Expansion of Global Populations will create many more opportunities for Love……”
