I was driving home from work today and wondered about EST. I participated in one of EST’s first teen training in San Francisco in 1971. Laurel was our leader. I was pretty young - 17 I believe. And… it changed my life (surprise). My ability to expereince nothing and create from there was life changing. So much to share - so little space. But I did want to share my love for this important event in my life and all the people behind it. Werner, Laurel and all the other teens in our training. I’d love to re-unite. I’m sure others would as well. Maybe I already missed this chance. But - wouldn’t it be nice … if we did. Lets create … a reunion - here - now. Its possible. Todd Z.
I found an interesting page on another website about some of the silly urban myths about the est training. You should go check them out at www.wernererhard.com/

I am looking for est graduates to interview for an academic article on the social and cultural influence of the est training. I would especially like to talk to anyone who is or has been a leader in a national organization. Please contact David Allyn at dsallyn@yahoo.com. Thanks!

Last night five of my dance students and my husband and I went out to dinner after class. I had heard that four of them had done the Forum (Landmark Education) and I joked that our side of the table would be the enlighted side. One remarked, “Oh, you did the Forum?” and another said: “She did EST.” To my surprise, the fifth student said, “Oh, I did EST, too.” It was the first time since the 70s that I was at a table full of people who knew what that meant. We started sharing stories (two had been Landmark supervisors)and everyone was eager to hear about the EST days, and talking about it made it all alive for me again. It always astounds me that I remember those two weekends in 1978 more vividly than any in my life. When I got home, one of them had sent me this link and reading it has been like taking a long drink of water after walking in a dessert. I know I carry the training deep inside me–it was that significant an experience. I know that when I tell my students to “Be Here Now” I am echoing Werner. I know that the decisions I have made in my life rest on the foundation that those weekends built. The training transforms me every day…even now.
I originally did the est Training in New York City in April of 1978. Little did I know where that simple act would lead me. I started assisting the month after I completed the training and continued to do so until 1991 when I completed Productivity, Service and Well-Being.
Over those years I led in excess of 120 guest seminars, directed 10 or 11 graduate seminars, and supervised more that 120 weekends of the est Training or Forum.
Without peer, this was the most impactful thing I’ve done in my life. I have been able to take everything I learned and translate it into my career.
Thank you Werner! I owe you my life!
